A simple guide to at-home communion

1. Prepare

   Find the communion elements: the bread, representing Christ's body, and the wine or juice, representing Christ's blood.

2. Search

   Search yourself for unconfessed sin (1 Corinthians 11:23-30), and confess your sin to God (1 John 1:9).

3. Reconcile

   Seek reconciliation if there is unresolved conflict in your life (Matthew 5:23).

4. Reflect

   Reflect on all that Jesus has done to pay the penalty for sin (1 Corinthians 11:23-30). Read Matthew 26:26-28 or 1 Corinthians 11:23-30, and reflect with worship music and prayer. Let the Holy Spirit lead you.

5. Remember

   Eat the bread, remembering Jesus' body that was broken for you. Drink the wine or juice, remembering Jesus' blood that was poured out for our sins.

6. Give thanks

   Continue in prayer as the Holy Spirit leads, and thank God for the body and blood of Jesus that was shed for us (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
